Rock Poetry

No answer to her call

Goddess of the silver screen
everybody's beauty queen
in bed alone and in despair
tugging at her long blonde hair.

Without success she should have been
small town girl and seldom seen
married to her working guy
without him she would die....

Reaching for the telephone
no answer to her call
there was nothing left for her
what did she have now.

Memories just memories,
memories of their love......

Getting up she packed some things
pulled off all her diamond rings
drove the car across the state
prayed that it was not too late.

Hammered on the shanty door
heart in mouth she crossed the floor
to her knees she sobbed and cried
without him she would die.

Reaching for the telephone
no answer to her call
there was nothing left for her
what did she have now.

Memories just memories,
memories of their love......

She found a note on the unmade bed
she clutches it to her breast when read
he's left the shack some time ago
and joined a travelling rodeo.

He thought that she no longer cared
and was best that he just disappeared
now she'd found such great success
being together caused too much stress.

Reaching for the telephone
no answer to her call
there was nothing left for her
what would she do now.

Memories just memories,
memories of their love......

Put back all her diamond rings
climbed into a dress that clinged
knocked upon her agent's door
took up the life she had before.

Became the star so much success
but found it caused unhappiness
how could she erase the pain
perhaps she'd try just once again.

Reaching for the telephone
no answer to her call
there was nothing left for her
what did she have now.

Memories just memories,
memories of their love
Memories just memories, memories of their love......
